Privacy Rules

Set hard boundaries on what your Twin can and can't surface — across every chat, every Expert, every persona.

What Are Privacy Rules?

Privacy Rules are restrictions you place on your Twin to make sure certain topics, sources, or content never get surfaced in answers — regardless of who's asking or how the question is phrased.

Where Personas control how much of your knowledge is shared, Privacy Rules control what's off-limits entirely.

Rule Layers

Privacy Rules stack in three layers, and the strictest rule always wins:

  • Platform defaults — sensible defaults applied to every Twin (e.g., sensitive personal information is never surfaced).
  • Org-level rules — rules your organization sets centrally for everyone.
  • Your rules — your own additions on top, fully under your control.

If any layer says "don't surface this," it won't be surfaced.

What You Can Block

  • Specific topics or keywords — anything tagged with the topic gets filtered out of answers.
  • Specific sources — exclude a particular doc, channel, or folder from being used as grounding.
  • Specific content patterns — block content matching a pattern you define.

When to Use Privacy Rules

  • You have a recurring sensitive topic (HR conversations, salary discussions, performance reviews) you want kept out of every answer.
  • You're in a regulated role and have content categories that can't be used as grounding regardless of asker.
  • A specific document or channel contains information that should never leak into your Twin's responses.

Privacy Rules apply across every surface — chats with your Twin, Expert Twins you contribute to, Slack responses, scheduled Agent runs. There's no path around them.

Editing Your Rules

Open My Twin and navigate to Privacy Rules. Add a rule, edit an existing one, or remove rules you've added. Org-level and platform rules are visible but not editable from your side — your admin manages those.
